Program fees are:
$5.00 for each scout or child participating - Adults free
$20 non-refundable deposit due 5 days prior to program.
The registration form will be sent to you after the program is scheduled.
Your $20 non-refundable deposit must
accompany your registration.
Make checks out to "FGPNC". Thanks!
Payment for the amount owed over the $20 deposit
is due on the day of the program.
All programs are held at the Great Plains Nature
Participating scouts will complete most or all requirements for the given topic.
It is up to the troop leader to check off completed
requirements, purchase any patches, etc.
For each Girl
Scout program, all requirements for the advancement point will be accomplished.
|Daisy - program length 1 hour|
Enjoy an hour of fun at the Great Plains Nature Center
while learning how to use resources wisely.
We will learn from Clover's clever ideas and make a
resourceful craft to take home.
Enjoy an hour of fun at the Great Plains Nature Center.
You'll put on a play as you learn how to make the world a better place
and have fun putting your knowledge into action on an "un-littering"
|Brownie - program length 1 1/2 hours|
We'll explore the homes of the insects in Chisholm Creek Park and watch as they go
about their business. We'll also do a fun, buggy craft!
Do you enjoy an adventure? Brownies will make their own letterbox stamp,
notebook and letterbox to take home. Put your clue-solving skills to the
test and find letterboxes in the park.
|Junior - program length is 2 1/2 hours|
|Camper Step 2|
Learning beginning map skills
will start off with an indoor practice. We'll use this knowledge,
map & compass on an outdoor Orienteering course
to find plotted markers. We will also explore
how to use a compass and triangulation to find a marker. If time permits,
we'll discover how to measure
our own pace.
Meet a wild animal of the Great Plains and explore their habitat in
Chisholm Creek Park.
Discover the secrets of flowers one petal at a time! We’ll investigate
the parts of a flower and record our findings in a Botanist’s Journal,
make a flowery craft and much more.

For each Cub Scout program, most or all requirements for the
adventure will be accomplished.

Dress for the weather and bring your Cub Scout Six Essentials on our
hike through Chisholm Creek Park to complete this Adventure.

Complete requirements 1-5.
Webelos do pre-hike activities (Requirements 1, 2 and 4) before
coming to Great Plains Nature Center. Maps of Chisholm Creek Park are
provided to help scouts make their hike plan before they arrive. The
remaining requirements are completed during our hike through Chisholm

Is your den, troop or organization looking for a Community Service Project? Wichita
Wild Parks are looking for volunteers to help with small and large projects; trail
maintenance and Red Cedar or Bush Honeysuckle removal in locations throughout Wichita,
such as Chisholm Creek Park, Hellers Park, Oak Park, Pawnee Prairie Park, Sim Park,
Swanson Park and The Meadows.
