School Field Trips at the
Great Plains Nature Center |

School
Field trips to the Great Plains Nature Center and Chisholm Creek Park are
very popular! If your class is considering a visit and would like to have one of
our staff as tour leader, you may either:
Call:
(316) 683-5499 and ask for Joyce (extension 210)
Or email:
Joyce Lent - Joyce@gpnc.org
We
will begin accepting reservations for the 2010-2011 school year in mid-August.
We will set up a field trip date and time, and visit with
you about the topic(s) to be covered. If your class wants to come on their
own, please contact us anyway to let us know what date you have in mind so we will know
what to expect and we, in turn, can tell you how many other groups will also be here.
Please read the following before you contact us:
 | We are an educational institution. The field trip experience works
best for school groups when it reinforces what is going on in the classroom at that time.
When you call to schedule we will visit with you about what topic(s) would best suit
your group.
|
 | It is a good idea to book as far in advance as possible. Have more
than one date as an alternative in case your first choice is not available.
|
 | Our minimum group size is 15 people.
|
 | Large groups (more than 25 people) may need extra staff commitments,
depending on the desires of the group.
|
 | Our field trips are typically outside as much as possible, so dress
appropriately for the weather.
|
 | Long pants, even in warm weather, and sturdy closed-toe shoes are
recommended (no sandals or high heels).
|
 | Name tags are helpful.
|
 | Please remember that food (including gum and candy) and beverages are
not allowed in the nature center, nor are they allowed on the trails when we work with
your group.
